Photo competition winner

A pleasant surprise recently dropped in my inbox when North East Lincolnshire Council sent me an email informing me that one of my photos has been chosen as one of the winning entries in a Cleethorpes photo competition.

My winning entry (as seen below) will be showcased in the resort as part of the Cleethorpes Levelling Up Fund projects. Really looking forward to seeing this photo in a prominent position in the resort during the coming months.

The story behind the photo

Like every photo, this one has a story behind it. It was a Saturday morning in May 2019. I’d just got a new phone and was eager to try out its camera’s capabilities.

It was a simple walk to the short-lived and much-missed bakery on Hardy’s Road in Cleethorpes for a loaf of freshly-baked bread (and perhaps a treat for later on!).

Walking back through Haverstoe Park, I noticed that the blossoming trees were making the perfect guard of honour for park users – almost reaching out to each other across the paved thoroughfare.

They framed perfectly for the picture and I was really impressed at how it turned out. It reminded me of Cleethorpes’ version of the Japanese cherry blossom festivals.
